General Assembly First Committee – Disarmament and International Security (DISEC)
Formed in 1978, Disarmament and International Security Committee is the first of the six main committees of the United Nations General Assembly. It works closely with the Disarmament Commission, a subsidiary body of the General Assembly, and the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva. The work of the committee falls under seven clusters: nuclear weapons, other weapons of mass destruction, disarmament in outer space, conventional weapons, regional disarmament and security, other disarmament measures and international security, and disarmament machinery.
