Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons
The overall mission of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) is to implement the provisions outlined in the Chemical Weapons Convention. The OPCW hopes to see a world free of chemical weapons, but there are great challenges to achieving this goal. In this committee, we will discuss topics related to demilitarization and destruction of chemical weapons, as well as ways to mitigate harm that has already been caused by chemical warfare.

Letter from the Chair
Welcome to JHUMUNC 2019!
My name is Ravina Sashti and I will be your chair for the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). I am originally from Newark, Delaware and I'm currently a sophomore at Johns Hopkins studying Computer Science. Outside of my major, I enjoy learning about and discussing international relations and politics, and I am excited to hear your unique perspectives and ideas! I'm also involved in the business fraternity at Hopkins, Alpha Kappa Psi. Last year, I was the chair of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development, and I'm excited to lead a committee with a different perspective from that.
I hope that all of you are excited to discuss these issues and bring your interests and unique perspectives to the committee. My goal for JHUMUNC 2019 is a weekend of productive and thoughtful debate on the important goals of the OPCW. Until then, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have about the committee!
