Delegates, hello and welcome to JHUMUNC 2017! I am Mira Haqqani and I could not be more honored to serve as one of the Secretaries-General for JHUMUNC this year. My job is to make sure you have a great time at JHUMUNC and enjoy your weekend in the great city of Baltimore. Originally from Karachi, Pakistan, I am a senior here at Hopkins studying Political Science and International Studies with a minor in Islamic Studies. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to live in Pakistan, England and the USA – all of which I call home now. This experience of globetrotting is one of the reasons I became so deeply interested in global governance and MUN. This is my fourth year with JHUMUNC and I’m determined to make this our best conference yet. I have previously served as the USG of Specialized, Director of Specialized, as well as the Chair of the Turkish Cabinet and the Syrian Government committees. In addition to JHUMUNC, I am the Editor-in-Chief of the JHU Politik and the programming intern at the JHU Office of Multicultural Affairs. Please feel free to contact me at email@example.com if you have any questions, concerns or just want to say hello. I am extremely excited to meet you all in February and see JHUMUNC 2017 unfold!
Hello JHUMUNC 2017! My name is Bernard Sarmiento and it is my pleasure to help guide you to a wonderful JHUMUNC this year. I am a senior on the pre-medical track, studying Neuroscience and Psychology. I was born in Roseland, New Jersey but I spent the last 11 years living in the Sunshine State – Florida. Ever since high school, I’ve had a strong passion for Model United Nations. MUN brought together some of the best and brightest high school students from around the world to talk about fascinating topics and to develop solutions to tough real-world issues. I’ve participated as a delegate of MUN conferences since my freshman year of high school, and was even a delegate of the JHUMUNC 2013 conference. I was fortunate to chair the Iranian Hostage Crisis Committee at JHUMUNC 2014 and serve as the Under Secretary-General for Specialized with Mira last year. Outside of JHUMUNC, I am fortunate enough to be a member of the Blue Key Society, A Place To Talk and the HopMUN travel team. As Secretary-General, it is my responsibility to create the best possible MUN experience that Johns Hopkins University and the city of Baltimore can offer. If you have any questions or concerns, please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Good luck and see you in February!
Welcome to JHUMUNC 2017! I’m Andrew Rosenblum, the Director General of JHUMUNC 2017. I do miss the ocean and beaches of Virginia sometimes but enjoy the inner harbor and exploring the amazing food options in Baltimore almost as much. This will be my 4th JHUMUNC conference and in the past I’ve been a committee staffer, Deputy Sergeant-At-Arms and Sergeant-At-Arms. Besides JHUMUNC, I am also the Captain of the Hopkins Emergency Response Organization (HERO) which provides EMS to the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus and a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. If you have any questions about the hotel, JHUMUNC, or just want to say hi, feel free to email me at email@example.com I look forward to seeing you all at the conference!
