Avatar: The Last Airbender: 100 Year War Reconciliation Committee
Fire Lord Sozin, ruler of the Fire Nation, had carried out a genocide against the Air Nomads during the passage of a once-in-a-century comet. Since then, the Fire Nation had decimated areas of Southern Water Tribe, and has colonized much of the Earth kingdom. Dozens of these colonies were established across the Earth Kingdom continent. After the Hundred Years War ended, Prince Zuko was crowned the new Fire Lord, and he announced an era of peace to begin, in which he would strive to restore the honor of the Fire Nation. In order to restore balance in the world, the Harmony Restoration Movement was launched. However, after the Hundred Year War’s conclusion, new disputes arose over the existence of the colonies on the Earth Kingdom, and has ignited fresh tensions with the Fire Nation. It will be the task of this committee to decide how we will deal with colonies, and how we will finally unite all Nations.
Topic A: Addressing the Presence of Fire Nation Colonies
Topic B: Restoring Peace to the World
Letter from the Chair
Dear Esteemed Delegates:
Welcome to Avatar: The Last Airbender: 100 Year War Recolliation! Binge-watching cartoons as a kid has finally paid off, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be running this committee and getting to know you all as the weekend progresses.
My name is Neetika (Nuh-tee-kah), and I am a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University, studying cognitive neuroscience and philosophy of science and logic. When I came to college, I was entirely new to Model UN, but eager to join anything and everything related to it. Last year I served as a Dais for the Joint Crisis Committee: Quadrumvirate on the Anatolian Wars. I am also an active member of the Johns Hopkins Model United Nations team, affectionately known as HopMUN.
This will be my first time chairing a committee, so I’m very excited to watch you move quickly to craft innovative solutions to the numerous problems this committee faces. Our crisis staffers are excited to burst onto the scene with dramatic new emergencies, all the while assisting you in your backroom efforts to help the committee move forward. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or just because you can at firstname.lastname@example.org!
