2020 Keynote Speaker: Dean Eliot Cohen
We are very fortunate to announce our Keynote Speaker for JHUMUNC 2020, Dean Eliot Cohen. Dean Cohen is currently the Dean of the Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), after previously directing the Strategic Studies Program at SAIS. Throughout his career, he has served in various positions in academics and in government.
After graduating with his bachelor’s degree in Government and PhD in Political Science at Harvard University, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Government and Assistant Dean at Harvard. He went on to teach at the Naval War College’s Department of Strategy. Afterwards, he worked for the Office of the Secretary of Defense as a part of its Policy Planning Staff, and soon after was appointed professor of Strategic Studies at SAIS. At SAIS, he has twice received the Excellence in Teaching Award. And in July 2019, he was appointed the ninth dean of SAIS.
