Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix
In this committee, delegates have a unique opportunity to be part of the wizarding world in that they have the ability to really use their creativity and imagination. Overall, the committee will be able to come up with different laws as part of the Ministry of Magic, help fight the war against the Dark Lord and his sinister agents, and save Muggles and other magical creatures that inhabit the Harry Potter world. By the end of this conference, delegates in this committee will hopefully have had a numerous experiences crafting different scenarios in the magical world and ultimately become victorious in the Great War.
Topic A: Increase security and impose stricter background checks on Ministry of Magic employees
Topic B: Mobilize protection for the vulnerable Muggle population and for other creatures that are friends of the Wizarding World
My name is Arjun Mathur and this year I will be chairing the Harry Potter: Order of the Pheonix Committee! I am especially psyched to chair this committee because of all the creative angles we can take in the fictional Harry Potter universe! Hopefully, we can contrive some crazy scenarios, so read up!
I am currently a senior at Johns Hopkins University studying Public Health on a pre-medicine track with a prospective focus on global health and healthcare management and policy. I am originally from a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio called Mason where I was born and raised. In my spare time at Hopkins, I am involved in multiple extra-curriculars including mentoring inner city children, giving tours, Greek Life, and playing various sports to stay active.
I actually did not participate in high school Model UN, so JHUMUNC was an incredible first experience in this event for me and I can’t wait to help make this experience a great time for all of you as well! Expect to have a lively debate about the wizarding world and a great time! I look forward to meeting all of you in February!
